As part of a school assignment, I redesigned the film guide for the Fresh Film Festival (International student festival) that happens in Prague, Czech Republic.
The main problem of the original guide was that it was in black and white and due to the large amount of information it was very hard to navigate.
I solved that by using colour coding, interchanging grid layouts depending on the category and creating an additional "film map". Big part of the festival are also surrounding events and lectures, which I decided to highlight and add an additional colour to make it stand out in the colour coding system.
As the mission of the festival is to create an opportunity for students to network, that is where the visual idea of the guide came from.

Initial sketches for the layout and the content list. As well as the colour palette that works as colour coding for the guide, making it easier for the user to navigate and easily find the category they are looking for.
The chosen type of binding is open binding. I chose it because it feels rough around the edges, same as the students who are just starting their career.
