The Grand Budapest Hotel is a movie directed by Wes Anderson who is known by a distinct visual and narrative style. The movie was released in 2014 and quickly became one of my favourites based on the aesthetics and offbeat sense of humour. I was drawn in by all the details of scenes and props, the scenery where it is all set, the colour palette that corresponds with the themes of the movie and how the story was told even with different width of the film frames.
Initial sketches for the storyboard. However, it slightly changed for the final version due to the length restrictions of the animation. The main point was to show the things I like the most about the movie.
Big part of the execution was to include the change of frame, so with each change of theme the frame changes according to different proportions. I also created all the illustrations of all the details that I liked and added the music which was used in the movie (plus my own sound effects).
